Single Embryo Transfer

Single Embryo Transfer

Single embryo transfer also known as elective single embryo transfer ( eSET) is a procedure in which one single embryo is selected from the cohort of multiple embryos made. This is helpful in avoiding the risk of multiple pregnancy and it’s complications like preterm birth and low birthweight babies. By using technologies like computerised grading of embryos, video based grading of embryos using embryoscope, or genetictesting of embryos using Preimplantation Genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGTA) or Non-invasive chromosomal screening of embryos NICS one can select the best embryo for transfer giving maximum success rate , minimum miscarriage rate and a singleton pregnancy .

In our unit the best blastocyst is selected using artificial intelligence, which clicks a static image of developed blastocyst and grades it. The blastocyst with best grade is selected and transferred in the uterine cavity, thus increasing the chance of pregnancy.

Step-by-Step Procedure of Single Embryo Transfer

1
The preparation for transfer in frozen cycles will start from day 2 or day 3 of period. Your lining and ovaries will be evaluated using a transvaginal ultrasound
2
Our team of experts will evaluate any other medical factors and start with medications that will help the lining to grow.
3
The lining will be assessed for thickness, blood flow to optimize the success of embryo transfer
4
Once the lining has grown satisfactorily, progesterone will be added to mimic the normal body changes and make the lining receptive for the embryo to implant
5
The embryo transfer will be done under ultrasound guidance to deposit the best selected embryos at the correct location within the uterine cavity
6
Our centres are equipped with the best technologies such as artificial intelligence, embryoscope, non invasive chromosomal screening, pre-implantation genetic testing to help us select the best embryo and hence increased success outcomes
